Ted has been a trial lawyer since 1984. He was a deputy prosecuting attorney assigned to the State of Hawaii’s first Felony Drug Prosecution Team and the White Collar Crime and Public Corruption Team.

Since 1991, his practice has concentrated in workplace law, business law and civil litigation. He is an experienced trial lawyer with real world experience as lead counsel in more than twenty-five (25) jury trials in State and Federal Court. He has represented clients before all circuit courts and appellate courts in the State of Hawaii and the United States District Court in Honolulu, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In collective bargaining labor arbitrations, he has represented employers and unions. He has done well over seventy-five arbitrations. He has also served as a member of a three (3) panel “interest” arbitration.

Ted is a former Regent for the University of Hawaii, representing East Hawaii and has been an invited lecturer at the University of Hawaii at Hilo for several years.

Ted also served in Governor Lingle’s administration as the Chief Negotiator for the State of Hawaii and was responsible for coordinating and negotiating all collective bargaining agreements with the public sector employee unions.

Ted is active in our community. He served as the Chairman for the Boy Scout Makahiki and was District Chair for Boy Scouts of America for Puna, Kau and Hilo. He was the Cubmaster for the Hilo Hongwanji Cub Scout Pack 23. He recently served as the chair for the Friends of Scouting fundraising drive.
